The Old House Cafe’

Posted by Carol Miller 1 Comment »

This old house on 28 & Proctor in Tacoma’s north end was built in 1907 for $3000.00! It went through a lot of changes over the years and almost was torn down at one point to put in a parking lot. Thank goodness that didn’t happen because now it is “The Old House Cafe”! It is open for lunch and dinner and serves some yummy seafood and chicken pasta dishes, the salads are also wonderful. My favorite is the basil prawn fettuccine! I took the photo from this side of the building because I love the bright pink cherry blossom trees in full bloom. I love it when these are in bloom because then I know summer is around the corner! To check out the full menu visit: http://www.theoldhousecafe.com/menu.htm

University of Puget Sound College

Posted by Carol Miller No Comments »

University of Puget Sound resides in Tacoma Washington surrounded by beautiful older craftsman homes.  I took these photos during the week the students were out on Spring break.  Normally, this campus is active with students walking through the old growth trees and plush green grass.  The architect of these buildings fit so well in north end Tacoma because the brick buildings are so much a part of the structure of the homes in the local area.

If you enjoy searching through other peoples treasures to find a treasure for yourself, UPS is having their annual Flea Market this Saturday the 22nd.  It is located at the University of Puget Sound Fieldhouse from 10:00a.m. to 5:00p.m. sponsored by the UPS Womans League.

If you would like to view additional photos of the campus click: http://www.realestateshows.com/269205  or to go to the University of Puget Sounds website visit:  http://www.ups.edu/

Reading Anyone?

Tacoma has so much history and lot of old buildings that tell a story.  Here is a picture of the Proctor district library “Anna Lemon Wheelock”.  It was originally built in 1927 and in 1958 an addition was built.  Then in 1984 the library was enlarged to 17,000 sq ft.  To read more in detail the history of the library and see how they kept the look of of the original structure visit: http://www.tpl.lib.wa.us/Page.aspx?nid=60

Sailboat Race

I got a chance this weekend to watch a sailboat race on Puget Sound. One of the many pictures I took….I thought it was kind of a cool picture with the mirror image of the sails in the water.

Hotel Murano

Hotel Murano which used to be the Sheraton in downtown Tacoma is placing a glass sculpture outside their front doors.  Check out the huge base they installed to hold the sculpture.  I can’t wait to see what is behind the white plastic.  I heard it is supposed to be unveiled March 8, 2008.  Watch for pictures!!
