The Old House Cafe’

Posted by Carol Miller 1 Comment »

This old house on 28 & Proctor in Tacoma’s north end was built in 1907 for $3000.00! It went through a lot of changes over the years and almost was torn down at one point to put in a parking lot. Thank goodness that didn’t happen because now it is “The Old House Cafe”! It is open for lunch and dinner and serves some yummy seafood and chicken pasta dishes, the salads are also wonderful. My favorite is the basil prawn fettuccine! I took the photo from this side of the building because I love the bright pink cherry blossom trees in full bloom. I love it when these are in bloom because then I know summer is around the corner! To check out the full menu visit: http://www.theoldhousecafe.com/menu.htm

Indochine Restaurant

Downtown Tacoma across from the Union Station is an upscale Asian cuisine.  It is decorated with beautiful wood, black leather, gorgeous drapery and a fountain in the middle.  The food is great and the prices are under $30.  I havn’t had anything I didn’t like, my favorite is the spring rolls and the cashew chicken.  It’s a great place for a buisness luncheon or an evening out on the town.  For more information visit: http://indochinedowntown.com/AboutUs.htm

Stanley and Seafort’s Restaurant

If you are looking for one of the best city views of downtown Tacoma, Stanley and Seafort’s Restaurant is the place to be!  It sits high on the cliff on the east side of Intersate 5. Not only are the city and water views great, but so is the food!  I was there a couple of weeks ago and had the crusted halibut….mmmm, I can still taste it.  It melts in your mouth!  On a sunny day in Tacoma it is relaxing to dine outside on the balcony getting into a conversation with friends.  I’m not sure how old the restaurant is but I can remember going there for dinner on my senior prom.  So that tells me that it is at least 10 years old….ok maybe 25 plus years!  It is still is as good today as it was many years ago.  It’s also is a convenient restaurant to grab a bite to eat before attending a concert at the Tacoma Dome.   So if you have never had a chance to experience fine dining at it’s best with  incredible views, I suggest having dinner at Stanley and Seafort’s, you won’t be sorry!
