I thought this picture was kind of cool, so I thought I would share it with you! I know Washington state is now a hands free state which means while driving you must not talk on your cell phone without being hooked up to some type of wireless contraption. That’s a different story which maybe I will write about or do a poll on which wirless works best in the car….because I have yet to find one that I can hear clearly on. Anyway, back to my story….I don’t remember seeing any state law that says you can’t take a picture while driving!!! So this brings me to this picture. This is our troops from McCord Airforce base practicing touch and go landings. I wish I could of taken the picture when it was closer. There are times when I’m on the freeway and these big birds fly so low that you think they are gong to land on top of your car. Next time when I see one of these flying machines and I’m not on my phone…wireless of cours, I will try to get a closer picture!

Nordstrom is building a brand new store next to their current location at the Tacoma Mall. It will be bigger and more updated then their current store, which is still open while the new one is under construction. Tacoma Mall itself is also going through some updating. Construction is under way for a new look on the east side of the mall and sit down restaurants are coming soon. Tacoma Mall is Pierce Counties largest shopping mall with Macy’s, JCPenney, Sears, Ann Taylor Loft, Pumpkin Patch to name a few. So excuse the construction around the parking lots on the South side….soon it will be done and things will be back to normal! The mall parallels I-5 In Tacoma between 38th and 48th Street.

Tacoma Boys looks like just a fruit stand seeing it from the freeway Hwy 16, but actually it is much more then that. Colorful ceramic flower pots and fresh flowers grace the entrance. Not only do they have the best fresh fruits and vegetable display but also high quality of pasta, cheese, breads, and assortment of wines and much more. There full service butcher and seafood section is one of the best. The prices are reasonable and the service is friendly, knowledgeable and you are always greeted with a smile. I was in there yesterday and discovered they are now making their own cream and butter fudge! Click RealEstateShows.com/245076 to see a video of Tacoma Boys.

Now that the holidays are behind us people are now ready for spring and wondering what home improvements they should do to add value to their home. A national study was done by the Remodeling Magazine surveying 65 markets. The cost recovery rate was more than 80%; however, in the Pacific Northwest the cost recovery was more than 100% on the following remodel projects:
Project Cost Recouped
Deck 120.4%
Windows 116.6%
Siding Replacement 117.5%
Kitchen Remodel 125.9%
(The kitchen remodel is minor including countertops; replace fronts of cabinet doors and drawers and hardware. Replace oven and cooktop with energy-efficient models. Replace laminate countertops; install sink and faucet and replace floor covering.)
I think when buyers are shopping for a home they look at these items as most costly and want to make sure that the outside of the house is in good shape. I was surprised not to see roofs included in over 100% cost recovery. If you are planning to do any of these outside projects it would be good to start planning before spring. Builders get more busy as summer approaches and it becomes difficult to retain a good one!

The other day I was in between meeting clients and had some time to spare so I grabbed some lunch and went to the park. After throwing some seeds out to the seagulls, they just stood there so I drove ahead to see if they would move, still nothing but watching me to see what I was doing. I then moved 50 feet away and they attacked the seeds like they hadn’t eaten in days. Yes, this is what Real Estate agents do in their spare time…….bird watch!!!
